Similar to bad weather swept through the northwest the previous evening, Manchester City swept United aside at the Etihad. It was a statement three-nil win for the City coach's side thanks to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Shaw and Hemp. It was a result that truly announced their title credentials as they reinforced their position at the top of the table.

Back-to-Back Losses for Manchester United

This result signalled successive WSL losses for the United manager's side for the maiden instance since last May, placing them seven points off the table toppers with their championship aspirations severely dented.
